Avec notre meilleur souvenir.JJudith N via Tripadvisor My daughter, son-in-law and I recently stayed in the cottage at Beau-Sejour for five days. It was spacious, comfortable, attractive and equipped with everything we needed. Breakfasts, teatime, and one delicious dinner in the main house were excellent, especially Maureen's baking. Also, she is an encyclopedia of helpful information about places of interest, restaurants, shopping, etc. in the region. However, the most outstanding feature is the wonderful hospitality she and Jon provide. They are truly sensitive to the diverse tastes and backgrounds of their guests. We travel frequently and this was one of our best experiences. I hope to be able to return. Gillwright via Tripadvisor We stayed in the very well appointed cottage with our son and his partner for a wonderfully relaxing week in September. The cottage has two spacious comfortable double bedrooms both having well sized separate bathrooms. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with plenty of space and utensils to prepare tasty meals with ingredients sourced from one of the many local markets nearby. We spent several very convivial evenings on the terrace outside the cottage enjoying meals we had cooked using fresh local produce we had bought that day, sampling local wine (from the vineyard opposite) whilst watching the sun go down in the warmth of a balmy evening - heaven!Maureen and Jon the hosts, provide afternoon tea each day complete with delicious homemade cake and wine this gave us an opportunity to meet with fellow guests staying in the chambre d'hotes. Breakfasts are substantial with fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, ham, cheeses as well as the usual bread and conserves they are served either in the dining room of the main house or delivered to the cottage. Maureen is an excellent cook and at times during the week there is the opportunity of sharing dinner with them and their other guests - an opportunity not to be missed! There is plenty to do and see in the area, Maureen and Jon are very knowledgeable and only too happy to recommend and arrange visits to local places of interest. Charming hosts, superbly appointed cottage in a lovely location, what more can one say! Swalking1945 via TripadvisorMy husband and I returned from a trip to France yesterday. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we felt confident selecting Beau-Sejour as our home for six nights. What a perfect choice it was! As all the reviews tell you, Maureen and Jon are gracious and lovely hosts. They find ways to make you feel like family while never being intrusive. This was our first trip to the countryside as we tend to go to large cities such as Paris. We were delighted with how much there is to explore. We ran out of days before seeing everything. It was both relaxing and exciting. We chose one or two destinations each day such as winery tours, trips to local markets, a drive to the coast for fresh seafood at Arcachon, dinner in Bordeaux, and meals at La Poudette. We even rented bicycles, purchased food at the morning market ...along with wine that a shop owner opened and re-corked for us (even included plastic cups) and found the perfect shady spot along the trail to have our lunch on the edge of a vineyard. What could be more romantic? Just wake up, have a chat with your hosts and next thing you know, you will have a map in hand (with perfectly typed directions) and be on your way to explore the area. We rented a Pugeot (manual) for under $150.00 and had such fun zipping around the curves and through the hills looking at historic homes, abbeys, and many villages. We even came across a hot air balloon lifting off!We slept better than ever in the quiet cottage. The bedding is rich and luxurious. So nice, that I must try to purchase some for our home.Be sure to enjoy visiting with the other guests at the afternoon tea or at the magnificent dining table over one of the beautiful meals prepared by your hosts. We met people from, Belgium, Australia, Canada, England and the U.S. Sharing travel plans and conversation was a wonderful experience.Safe travels to all! Susan and Dan Fleckenstein Astuce pour la chambre : We stayed in the cottage and loved it, however, we toured all of the rooms and could recommend any o..Donna E via TripadvisorI stayed at Beau Sejour with 5 friends for 8 nights in early July and really can't say enough good things about the experience. But I'll give it a try......The accommodation in a renovated chateau was a lovely blend of old world charm and modern convenience. I stayed in the cottage and was particularly impressed with the bathroom - they thought of everything, including towel warmers - and the VERY well equipped kitchen. The latter, combined with a lovely patio and yard, and a small but functional bar-b-que, enabled the creation of some lovely evenings and meals. The breakfasts served in the main part of the building were substantial and included Maureen's special touches - homemade jam and a different yummy baked surprise each morning. This room was also the gathering place in the late afternoon/early evening for a glass (or two) of wine courtesy of the hosts which I thought was a particularly nice touch and a good chance to meet other guests.Beau Sejour is located in a small village, so there really isn't much for amenities. It is however rather quaint, and possible to go for some nice walks and bike rides in the scenic surroundings. It's quiet, except for the bells of the neighbouring church which ring at about 7 a.m.; best to be a morning person! And the location is superb for touring the Bordeaux region.Without question, the best part of Beau Sejour is the hosts. Maureen and Jon are "over the top" in terms of attentiveness to their guests - anticipating our needs, recommending and booking wine tours and restaurants we would never have discovered without them. When we returned from our travels each day, they were anxious to hear about our adventures. They are gracious and thoughtful and their unending kindness made my friends and I feel welcome and special. Thank you Maureen and Jon for making us feel so at home in your beautiful part of the world. dimismith via TripadvisorWe stayed at Beau Sejour for 7 nights that went well beyond our expectations!! Upon arriving, Maureen and Jon had prepared a delicious 4-course "table d'hôte" which we so appreciated after a long drive from Barcelona. There were 6 in our party and we used Chambres Sud, Ouest, and the Country Cottage. That arrangement worked beautifully for us and allowed us to do some cooking, eating and relaxing outside overlooking the back yard. Maureen and Jon's hospitality and attention to detail are second to none! The rooms and bathrooms are beautifully and thoughtfully organized. The main, common room is a respite after long days of touring wineries and villages, where you could exchange stories with other visitors also staying there. Breakfasts were delicious, with always a little "special dessert" prepared by Maureen to tantalize your tastebuds. Maureen and Jon booked winery visits, bike rentals, and recommended and reserved topnotch restaurants, both in the economical and the expensive range. All of these were 5 STAR experiences that will long remain in our memory. The location is superb for touring the Bordeaux region with all it has to offer, and Maureen and Jon give excellent directions on how to get to your destinations! When asked by friends what the highlight of our vacation was, we have all concluded it was meeting and staying at Maureen and Jon's "Beau Sejour" - the name itself is an understatement!!!!Marr524 via TripadvisorIt is a very nice B&B, conveniently located to major wine regions of Bordeaux, run by a very friendly and attentive English couple. The hospitality of the place and the quality of service are exceptional. We spent a few nights in two rooms and the rest of the week in a cottage - next to the main building - all very cosy, clean and convenient. It is one of the best B&B we've ever been! A perfect place to explore Bordeaux and its wine. Martin H via Tripadvisor The tough thing about writing this review is that previous writers already perfectly described why this place is one of the best things to visit in France (even better than the Eiffel tower): exceptional hospitality, lovely and comfortable rooms, a wonderful garden to relax, a splendid saloon, superb dinners, a very child-friendly atmosphere, personal advices to explore the beautiful area and the best of all: exceptional hosts! I am running out of superlatives to describe what Jon and Maureen have built up here over the past years: traveler's paradise and our very personal paradise that felt like home. We are very sure that we will come back for another holidays, hopefully soon. From all places we have seen around the globe Jon's and Maureen's spirit is truly seldom, if not, unique. Keep it up, you are wonderful! Mardelibre via Tripadvisor My husband and I stayed in May 2012. We rented the individual cottage. It's simply charming. First of all, it looks better than the photographs in person. It is a wonderful blend of old and new. The kitchen was well appointed, the bed was comfortable and the shutters keep out the morning sun. The cottage is also cool in the heat of the day. (It was unusually hot for May.) The upstairs may get warm in the summer but we didn't stay up there so we can't comment. The upstairs has a sofa and a fan. The outdoor patio is a wonderful place to have breakfast and to lounge. The indoor kitchen table is wonderful for either a larger gatherings or a romantic evening dinner. The breakfast was sustantial by European standards and I think any American would also be pleased with the amount of food and the high quality of the food. The produce and the jams were either local and/or home made. Who could ask for more?Dragos Ml via TripadvisorBeau Séjour is not a place to stay for a day or two, or even a week, but for life. But vacations eventually finish and one has to get back to his/her home. It was our 4th time here in the latest 6 years; we stayed again in the gîte.Just like a year ago, Maureen prepared us dinner every other day; on an exceptional basis, since as a rule they provide this service only to B&B guests. But it seems that rules are made to be broken (always for the benefit of their clients). The night before leaving we had a bottle of wine together with Maureen and Jon until midnight while watching falling stars (well, not too many, if I remember well; but Jon’s sense of humour has been the compensatory factor). And every year we come to their place they somehow manage to recommend some other new interesting places to visit or wines to buy. This is a perfect place to rest. And to enjoy Maureen’s cooking and Jon’s wine (some for girls, some for boys, he should know better). And to pat their two dogs. And to make two new friends, because it’s difficult not to (and I’m not referring to the dogs). There will certainly be a fifth time in 2013. Trabbi via Tripadvisor We chose Beau Sejour based on the excellent presentation on the Web-Site - including video of rooms and cottage. Also because of the fantastic ratings. We were not disappointed ! Our group enjoyed both the cottage and a room in the B&B for a week. This is a great place when you want to be together but need an extra room. Maureen and Jon were wonderful hosts - made us feel very special and gave us lots of helpful information about the area. The cottage was the main draw for us - particularly with large bedrooms with their own bathrooms and a large wonderfully equipped kitchen for sitting together - even when weather was a bit cool (early June). The big terrace and garden were great on the warm evenings......followed by the after-dinner walk through the vineyards. Hope to get back there some day...... Linda H via Tripadvisor We had an unforgettable stay in Les Vendangeurs - the most charming and sympathetically restored country cottage set in the stunning countryside surrounding Bordeaux. The cottage is equipped with everything one could wish for and and our hosts were very welcoming and extremely warm people. Maureen and Jon are a fount of local knowledge and, even better,. Maureen's cuisine is of Michelin star standard - just try her foie gras! As if this wasn't enough, we enjoyed glorious Bordeaux wine from Jon's extensive cellar. We loved just relaxing and gazing out over the the beautiful gardens outside our front door.. We'll be back!jonesblmm via TripadvisorBeau Sejour had been recommended to us by friends and we were not disappointed. Maureen was so helpful and patient as we arrived late due to getting lost and taking the "scenic route". She warmly welcomed us and had a glass of wine waiting for each of us. We stayed in the cottage attached to the main house. It was perfect for sharing with another couple that we were traveling with and gave us access to our private yard. We were able to enjoy star gazing from the back yard each night and then awaken to a lovely breakfast. The dinner that Maureen made was fabulous! I wish I had more right now of her "more-ish" appetizer. We enjoyed seeing all the vineyards and towns around the area, but the highlight was definitely getting back to our little hideaway at Beau Sejour.
