Where to stay when on a walking or cycling tour in the vineyards? We have one of the best places to stay with super friendly villa accommodation!
Our holiday cottage, Les Vendangeurs, is situated in the countryside of the Entre deux Mers close to Saint Emilion and only 40 minutes from Bordeaux. We are English and we have carefully chosen the location to be close to Bordeaux and the vineyards of Saint Emilion, Pomerol, Sauternes, the Entre deux Mers, the Medoc and Castillon.
Some guests say that this is the best holiday letting that they have ever stayed, not just around Saint Emilion
It gives us great pleasure to welcome guests from France and all over the world to our holiday home.  We are here to help you enjoy the best possible moments whilst you are staying with us at our cottage.  We are passionate about our region and we love to share ideas for places to visit, the best restaurants, cycle and walking routes, wine tastings, and not forgetting the many shady spots in the garden to read a book with a glass of wine to hand. Our holiday cottage is perfect for those who like to sit peacefully and relax, perhaps with a glass of wine or for those who like to walk or cycle in the lanes around the vines and small villages.  We are very close to the cycle track, named Roger Lapebie, going from Bordeaux southwards. The holiday cottage is suitable for between 2 - 4 adults, there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms.  An additional bedroom and bathroom, adjacent to the cottage, can be included in the vacation rental.  The cottage kitchen is equipped for people who like to cook and eating on the terrace is a real pleasure.  Alternatively we can provide dinners that we have prepared for you to eat either in the cottage or on the terrace or you can join the guests in our bed and breakfast for dinner, on nights when we cook, see our dinner details.  Breakfast is provided with a selection of different fresh and poached fruits, home made jams, home make cake, good bread, yoghourt, muesli, fruit juice, a selection of teas and herbal teas, good coffee.  Other items by request where possible, please ask. Buying food and wine, especially on vacation, is one of life's great pleasures, perhaps at the farm or the chateau or from a market, ideal for a picnic or a meal.  Each day there is a market nearby and on many days a choice of markets.  For example, there is a small market in Saint Emilion on a Sunday and also a large market on the same day at Libourne close to Saint Emilion.  The Gironde is an area rich in markets, with markets in the nearby towns of Branne, Rauzan, Sauveterre la Guyenne, Creon, Targon and Castillon la Bataille.  There are food and general markets in Bordeaux as well as a ‘flea market’ and a special organic market in Bordeaux on a Saturday. There is also a small but excellent shop and lunch-time restaurant in the village and the nearest large supermarket is less than ten minutes away. Saint Emilion is only 15 minutes by car from the cottage and the picturesque villages of the Gironde are close by.  A visit to the beautiful city of Bordeaux is essential and within easy reach.  A day trip to the coastal towns of Arcachon, Lacanau for surfing and Gujan Mestras for oysters straight from the sea is very tempting as is the climb to the top of the Dune du Pyla which is the largest natural sand dune in Europe. There is a large quiet garden for you to enjoy and perhaps observe the red squirrels or the birds of prey overhead.  You may hear the woodpecker or see the hoopoes in summer.  Occasionally in the early morning you may also be fortunate enough to see deer in the garden.  Horse riding can be organised with a local stable which specialises in rides through the vineyards. This vacation rental is ideal for those who love wine.  We can arrange visits for wine tastings or to buy wine, either with our neighbours or further afield, depending upon your requirements.  Please contact us for further details. Originally from England and lovers of wine we have carefully chosen the location of  our bed and breakfast to be very close to the vineyards of Saint Emilion, Pomerol,  Sauternes, the Entre deux Mers,  the left bank, (Medoc) and the city of Bordeaux.  You may be surprised but there is more to this wonderful region than wine!  In  order to provide additional information on history, activities and visits we have created a new site called bordeaux- wine-country.com for your interest. Please click here to read some of the reviews from guests who have stayed at our vacation cottage.
When staying in Saint Emilion consider our comfortable and welcoming holiday villa rental with free parking
The cottage is a self-contained wing of our house which is also a bed and breakfast.  The cottage terrace flows into the terrace of the house but guests do tend to keep to their area unless invited to share an aperitif or similar.  Guests in the cottage can benefit from the sociability of the bed and breakfast and our local knowledge or they can keep themselves to themselves with just a 'Bonjour' to a neighbour. When requested, it is a great pleasure for us to help guests find routes and villages in the Gironde off the tourist trail. Cycles can be hired in Creon at the old railway station which is now a centre for the cycle track which follows a disused railway line. Cycles can also be hired at the tourist office in Saint Emilion. The cottage has ample secure parking for between two to four cars, depending on size, but not for caravans or camping cars.  Cycles and motor bikes can also be left in safety. We hope that we can have the pleasure of welcoming you to our holiday cottage soon. Please contact us if you would like further information for a relaxing holiday with the freedom of a self catering cottage but with the advantage of being spoilt also on your vacation.
We are fortunate to have had many opinions published from happy guests who have stayed at our holiday cottage close to Saint Emilion and Bordeaux. A sample of recent opinions are shown below.  Mumneedsaholiday via Tripadvisor Beau Sejour is, without doubt, a very beautiful B&B close to Saint Emilion, most worthy of it's enviable Tripadvisor ranking. The buildings are stunning and the interior rooms are beautifully put together, spotlessly clean and displaying a quiet elegance coupled with a high level of comfort. The meals are delicious and plentiful, the wine flows freely. The courtyard overlooking the vast garden beckons us back for a summer stay in future years. We enjoyed meeting other guests and sharing travel stories from all over the globe. But the best parts of Beau Sejour are not the beautifully restored buildings, the delightful rooms, the superb meals or the lovely garden. The best parts of Beau Sejour are Maureen and Jon, owners and hosts. Maureen and Jon would have to be the warmest, kindest, most helpful people you could ever hope to meet. Upon arrival, you are greeted like an old friend and encouraged to feel at home. Our children were made to feel like special guests, which is not always the case when staying in holiday accommodation. Our hosts extensive knowledge of the area, good judgement and guidance enabled our family or have a unique and highly memorable few days in Saint Emilion. As we were a group of 5 (2 adults and 3 young children) who wished to self cater for some of our stay, we were offered 'The Cottage' for the duration of our visit. It was perfect for our needs, warm, clean and spacious with all the facilities a family might need and plenty of room to 'spread out'. Maureen and Jon organised wine tours on our behalf at 'child friendly' chateaux, pointed us in the right direction for local markets and other sightseeing opportunities and assisted us with maps, brochures etc. They even booked us in for a prehistoric cave tour on our way home... another highlight of our visit to the region. If you are looking for an unforgettable St Emilion experience, don't hesitate to reserve a room at Beau Sejour. Maureen and Jon will look after you so well, you won't want to leave. We look forward to another visit in the future, when I hope to book the entire place out so I can share it with friends and extended family. I can't wait to come back! Judith N via Tripadvisor  My daughter, son-in-law and I recently stayed in the cottage at Beau-Sejour for five days. It was spacious, comfortable, attractive and equipped with everything we needed. Breakfasts, teatime, and one delicious dinner in the main house were excellent, especially Maureen's baking. Also, she is an encyclopedia of helpful information about places of interest, restaurants, shopping, etc. in the region. However, the most outstanding feature is the wonderful hospitality she and Jon provide. They are truly sensitive to the diverse tastes and backgrounds of their guests. We travel frequently and this was one of our best experiences. I hope to be able to return. Gillwright via Tripadvisor We stayed in the very well appointed cottage with our son and his partner for a wonderfully relaxing week in September. The cottage has two spacious comfortable double bedrooms both having well sized separate bathrooms. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with plenty of space and utensils to prepare tasty meals with ingredients sourced from one of the many local markets nearby. We spent several very convivial evenings on the terrace outside the cottage enjoying meals we had cooked using fresh local produce we had bought that day, sampling local wine (from the vineyard opposite) whilst watching the sun go down in the warmth of a balmy evening - heaven!Maureen and Jon the hosts, provide afternoon tea each day complete with delicious homemade cake and wine this gave us an opportunity to meet with fellow guests staying in the chambre d'hotes. Breakfasts are substantial with fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, ham, cheeses as well as the usual bread and conserves they are served either in the dining room of the main house or delivered to the cottage. Maureen is an excellent cook and at times during the week there is the opportunity of sharing dinner with them and their other guests - an opportunity not to be missed! There is plenty to do and see in the area, Maureen and Jon are very knowledgeable and only too happy to recommend and arrange visits to local places of interest.  Charming hosts, superbly appointed cottage in a lovely location, what more can one say! dimismith via Tripadvisor We stayed at Beau Sejour for 7 nights that went well beyond our expectations!! Upon arriving, Maureen and Jon had prepared a delicious 4-course "table d'hôte" which we so appreciated after a long drive from Barcelona. There were 6 in our party and we used Chambres Sud, Ouest, and the Country Cottage. That arrangement worked beautifully for us and allowed us to do some cooking, eating and relaxing outside overlooking the back yard. Maureen and Jon's hospitality and attention to detail are second to none! The rooms and bathrooms are beautifully and thoughtfully organized. The main, common room is a respite after long days of touring wineries and villages, where you could exchange stories with other visitors also staying there. Breakfasts were delicious, with always a little "special dessert" prepared by Maureen to tantalize your tastebuds. Maureen and Jon booked winery visits, bike rentals, and recommended and reserved topnotch restaurants, both in the economical and the expensive range. All of these were 5 STAR experiences that will long remain in our memory. The location is superb for touring the Bordeaux region with all it has to offer, and Maureen and Bob give excellent directions on how to get to your destinations! When asked by friends what the highlight of our vacation was, we have all concluded it was meeting and staying at Maureen and Jon's "Beau Sejour" - the name itself is an understatement!!!!  Martin H via Tripadvisor The tough thing about writing this review is that previous writers already perfectly described why this place is one of the best things to visit in France (even better than the Eiffel tower): exceptional hospitality, lovely and comfortable rooms, a wonderful garden to relax, a splendid saloon, superb dinners, a very child-friendly atmosphere, personal advices to explore the beautiful area and the best of all: exceptional hosts! I am running out of superlatives to describe what Jon and Maureen have built up here over the past years: traveller’s paradise and our very personal paradise that felt like home. We are very sure that we will come back for another holidays, hopefully soon.  From all places we have seen around the globe Jon's and Maureen's spirit is truly seldom, if not, unique. Keep it up, you are wonderful!
